Above are a few initial sketches of tiles for a collaborative project with artist Elif Uras. Our idea is to create a ceramic tiled octagonal-structure (similar to a navel-stone--seen in the center of a hamam) that deals with Turkish Armenian history and the ceramic traditions of Iznik and Kutahya. The navelstone is part of a project called Blind Dates, organized by curators Neery Melkonian and Defne Ayas--where artists whose roots lie in the former Ottoman empire are paired together. An exhibition is planned for Nov. 2010 at Pratt Manhattan gallery.

My sculpture Avestan is now on view in a show at Nurture Art called "Who is Afraid of Ornament?" curated by Natasha Kurchanova. It will run from April 23 to May 29th.

My fifth paper tower (based on the Coptic alphabet) is currently on view at Mount Airey Contemporary Art in Philadelphia for a show called Brooklyn on Paper, curated by Larry Walczak. It runs through May 14th.

I will have a drawing at a benefit for One Story--a non-profit literary magazine that features one great short story mailed to subscribers every three weeks. My drawing is actually based on a short story by the writer Rachel Carpenter that was published by the magazine a few years back. The benefit is taking place on May 21st at the American Can Factory. Details on their website.

I will have a new drawing on view in a spring show of drawings at Big and Small Casual gallery, a weekend gallery space curated by Kate Teale in Long Island City. Opens on May 21st.

I have some older drawings for sale on a website called 1213gallery that recently launched. I also have some drawings (the 2004 series) available through Heskin Contemporary in Manhattan.

Thank you for your interest and support!
